Over the Counter Supplements

Below are Dr. Katie’s top over-the counter supplements, tests and therapy for digestive/gut health

BASIC GI Health
If you can do nothing else, add these three products to the daily regimen.

-Colon Rescue
-Ion Gut
-Digestive Enzymes

GI Health PLUS
If the Basic options aren’t getting you to where you want to be, consider adding these next three products into the mix.

-Dr. Katie’s GI Health Homeopathic
-5 Defenders Real Mushrooms
-RX Clay

When using these products, follow the instructions on the package label.

Always integrate oral supplements slowly, introduce one at a time, with at least 5-7 days before layering in the next item.

Testing

In addition to food and environmental allergies/sensitivities, we very often see vitamin and Omega 3 deficiencies linked to poor GI health. Dr. Katie almost always recommends the following microbiome and vitamin tests be completed as early in the healing process as possible.

-AnimalBiome Microbiome Health Test (requires stool sample)
-VDI 4-Way Vitamin Panel (requires blood sample)
-Omega 3 Index for Pets (requires blood sample)

Order the kit(s) and upon receipt take those requiring blood to your regular vet for draw, or arrange for Christina, the mobile vet tech to come to your home for the draw (San Diego County only).

Everything needed is in the kit and results are sent directly to your inbox.

Food & CBD

Finally, Dr. Kangas often recommends a feeding guidance consultation and/or CBD.

If you would like individualized guidance for diet, which includes designing a balanced and appropriate diet that supports the overall health and well-being of your pet, schedule a feeding guidance consultation with Jessica Leigh, Certified Canine Nutritionist.

We have found through the years that layering in cannabinoids such as CBD or CBG to your pet’s regimen has yielded very positive benefits for animals with GI distress/disease.
